Why blanket lists of forbidden foods are not the right answer for everyone.
With irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) there is no single diet that works for everyone. Foods that one person tolerates without any problem can trigger symptoms in another. It also has to be distinguished whether an intolerance, an allergic reaction or another mechanism lies behind the symptoms. Instead of blanket lists of forbidden foods, what matters is therefore to assess individual reactions as precisely as possible and to adjust the diet accordingly.
